The MT PreRunner Kit represents the pinnacle of what’s available for bolt-on, factory geometry suspension systems. The 2.5 DCAs coilovers and shocks are designed specifically for off-road performance. This system is the sportier equivalent of the 2.0s. They run a little more firm and are made to handle big inputs. The focus is on control, but they are certainly not uncomfortable for daily driving. If you have more weight on your rig, the 2.5s are a great choice. The larger body diameter means you get more fluid internally, with increasing cooling function as the primary goal. The adjustable external reservoirs allow for even more fluid capacity and give you the ability to fine tune your ride via compression clickers. This particular body also allows for more up travel, compared to the 2.0s.

2nd Place Prize – MT Trail Runner Kit

Retail Value: $2647

The MT Trail Runner Kit is the more budget-friendly alternative. It gives you plenty of improvement over factory and is focused to those who primarily drive on the street, while taking the occasional weekend overlanding trip. They are more compliant and comfortable than the 2.5s, and offer a really nice ride on the road. The focus is more so on comfort, but they still offer plenty of control. These are not a “performance” shocks, although they can certainly hold their own. The 2.0s are more geared for slow speed as well. Which translates really well for the vast majority of how people use their trucks. The IFP design does lend itself to less up travel, but it’s something that the average user would have a hard time seeing from typical.

Another giveaway debut, the freshly updated Dirt King ball joint UCAs. These feature 4130 chromoly tubing, black powder coat, Probearing SilentSpin bushings, and beefy Probearing ball joints. These work for all applications, but come in at a reliable, yet more affordable configuration – perfect for a set of 2.0s.

All said and done, this is an excellent option for those just getting started on their builds and the weekend warrior.
