Surviveware Survival Kit Review

Surviveware Survival First Aid Kit & Biodegradable Wet Wipes Review

A Kit Perfect For Daily Carry In Your Truck

Always be prepared, and always have a plan. If I were to ever have a motto for life, that would be it. Anything can happen at any moment, and you never want to be left stuck without a plan. One thing is guaranteed in life, and that is that life is unpredictable.

Life truly is an array of haphazard moments strung together from the moment you are born. That is what makes life so precious and enjoyable. Stepping into the unknown each and every day. It makes you appreciate what you have, and what you strive for. It can bless the less than fortunate, and humble the most arrogant.

Anything can happen at any moment. I have worked in law enforcement for over four years, and to say that anything can happen at any moment is an understatement. If I have learned one thing from my career as a police officer, it is that uncertainty awaits all of us.

That is why it’s so crucial to always be prepared for whatever life throws at you. Law Enforcement teaches you to always be aware of your surroundings, and expect the unexpected.

Surviveware Survival First Aid Kit - Best Survival Kits

I tend to have a plan of action every time I leave my house or go on a trip.

That plan of action doesn’t necessarily mean responding to possible threats. Preservation of life is paramount to everything else, and to ensure that, it is important to have essential equipment with you.

Choosing the right gear is equally important, and can make all the difference. You don’t need to be a registered nurse, doctor, or tactical medic to understand the basics for first aid, although it does help. A simple pre-packed first aid kit or survival kit will do the job, and can potentially save a life or tend to a minor injury.

Surviveware produced the full package with its Survival First Aid Kit and broke the mold on first aid kit standards. They took it to the next level and gave consumers a product worth its penny.

Today, we are covering their Survival Kit but they also make a Large First Aid Kit. Totally different products with a unique traveler in mind.

Unique Features

Survival First Aid Kit for Car

Providing the consumer with a complete package can make all the difference. No one wants to pay top dollar for an incomplete first aid or survival kit.

Surviveware considered that when they produced their Survival First Aid Kit. The tactical bag it comes in alone is extremely versatile and can be used in several ways. I tend to keep some sort of medical supplies in every vehicle I drive and store them in inconspicuous places that are still easily accessible.

With the Surviveware Survival First Aid Kit, it broadens the number of places you can store it. It’s compact enough to store under or behind seats. It’s also versatile enough to stick it or strap it to a car seat or cabin roof.

The Surviveware Survival First Aid Kit has a buckle strap attached to a quick tear-away Velcro back. It makes deploying the first aid kit extremely fast in the case of an emergency. It also has two hooks and button straps on the back as well to allow you to secure it to just about anything. I use the buckle strap to secure it around my headrest in my 3rd Gen Toyota Tacoma.

I usually operate my vehicle alone, and no one sits behind the driver’s seat, so it works well for me. If I have passengers though, the kit is compact enough that I can place it in the storage compartment behind the rear passenger seat. I prefer keeping it attached to my headrest merely for the fact that I can deploy it fast if need be.

Surviveware Survival First Aid Kit Features

Another great feature of the Surviveware Survival First Aid Kit is once you open it, it unfolds with everything on display.

You don’t have to spend time searching through the bag to find what you need. Everything is front and center, labeled, and easy to find. This is what makes their kit so great. The simple fact that everything is easily accessible and easy to find.

In Law Enforcement, it becomes common practice to constantly operate under immense stress. Under stress, you lose function of your fine motor skills and resort to gross motor skills. Fine motor skills would be certain things you can do with a degree of finesse. That includes complex levels of coordination with small muscles and movements, such as fingers and fingertips.

Once under stress, you lose some, or most, of your fine motor skills. For instance, when you find yourself under immense stress you begin to breathe heavy or feel out of breath. Even though you did not exert any energy, that’s your body’s natural response to balance out the surge of adrenaline you are experiencing. A few more examples would be a rapid heart rate, sweating, and feeling jittery or nervous.

Working Under Stressful Conditions

Review & Overview for Surviveware Survival First Aid Kit

Now throw all of that (stress) together, and try and dig through your average medical or first aid kit where nothing is organized or labeled.

It can double or triple the time it takes you to find what you need, just because you are not in a clear state of mind. This is where gross motor skills come into play. Gross motor skills are basic functions that are done using larger muscles like the whole hand or arm.

The Surviveware Survival First Aid Kit had this in mind by organizing and labeling everything in the kit. There is no fumbling or searching through numerous pockets and pouches. You simply open up the kit, grab what you need, and apply it.

Kit Contents

The Surviveware Survival First Aid Kit is packed with all the essentials when it comes to first aid.

They took their time putting it together. Some key things to highlight about this kit are the medical supplies for wounds, as well as the tools it has for survival. I’ll delve into the medical supplies first, and highlight some important features.

First and foremost, as soon as you open the pack the very first thing you notice is a CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) Kit. CPR is pretty standard, and the basic procedure is taught to everyone. 30 chest compressions to every two rescue breaths. Once you open the pouch it has step by step instructions sewn to the inside of it, just in case you forget under stress. Another great feature it has is the mouth guard, to protect the person providing CPR to the incapacitated individual. It’s equally as important to guard yourself against potentially unknown transmittable diseases that you could come into contact with by performing mouth to mouth resuscitation.

The rest of the medical supplies are pretty standard in every first aid kit. From pressure bandages to adhesive dressings. One thing this kit will provide you with that most do not, is a poncho to keep you dry, as well as an emergency blanket. A poncho is great for rainy or wet conditions to keep you dry and regulate body temperature in harsh conditions. The emergency blanket is what counts though if you do become wet. The emergency blanket will ensure maximum heat retention if by chance you do become wet in a cold climate.

Tools & Wet Wipes

Review for Survival First Aid Kit & Biodegradable Wet Wipes

The survival tools that are provided are what beef up this kit.

First thing I noticed upon opening it was the shears they provide. Those shears are used by Law Enforcement, Firefighters, and EMS (Emergency Medical Services) alike. They work exceptionally well for cutting clothing, with maximum protection to the patient. These shears will cut through any type of clothing with little to no effort.

A knife is much more difficult to remove clothing with and can be dangerous to the patient. Some other great tools included are a lock blade knife, multi-tool plier, hand saw, signaling mirror, flashlight, whistle, and glow sticks.

The last thing that truly compliments the Surviveware Survival First Aid Kit is their very own biodegradable wet wipes. They store a large pack right in the middle of the kit for the users. Wet wipes are great for the explorers, overlanders, avid campers, athletes, and outdoor enthusiasts.

Wet wipes can be used for many things. From quick cleanups, wiping down after a workout, or using the restroom while camping. What makes them shine is that they are one hundred percent biodegradable, and begin to decompose in 28 days. Their wet wipes are alcohol-free, hypoallergenic, and contain aloe vera. Well done Surviveware!

Final Thoughts

Survival First Aid Kit for Offroad & Overland

Overall, the Surviveware Survival First Aid Kit is a phenomenal product.

Surviveware took their time putting it together, and it shows. It packs a pretty large bang for its buck, and you get exactly what you pay for. They didn’t skimp out on medical supplies or survival tools. Their biodegradable wet wipes are a bonus.

The only thing not included in this kit is a tourniquet. As a Police Officer, I am a firm believer in tourniquets, and they truly are invaluable. Don’t be discouraged though, because most first aid and survival kits do not include tourniquets. They are fairly expensive, and you would be paying top dollar for a subpar first aid kit just to have a tourniquet included. You would be better off buying a tourniquet separately and adding it to your first aid kit.

All in all, the Surviveware Survival First Aid Kit is worth the investment. You get some quality products that most first aid kits do not provide.  I was extremely pleased with the structure and organization of this kit. Surviveware did something great here!
