If you’re going to spend any time off-road, it’s likely you’ll need to recover your truck or another vehicle in your crew. But recoveries also happen on pavement. Could be during a bad snow storm, or getting stuck in a muddy ditch. Having a solid set of recovery points is crucial for safety and effectiveness.
Factory points aren’t really meant for the stresses of a tough recovery. They’re usually meant to act as a tie down point when towing a vehicle that has broken down.
The SXTH Element FRP (front recovery point) is made specifically for tough situations. They also add a nice refining touch from a visual perspective.
Note: these fit the 4th Gen Tacoma AND the 6th Gen 4Runner.

Packaging
The very first thing you notice when getting a new product… packaging!
First impressions are super important. When you open your new mods, the last thing you want to see is damage or a bad packing job.
Thankfully, SXTH is well aware of this and does a killer job. Each part has a special recess that ensures essentially zero movement. Well done!
A final quick note, they also provide a card with how to use them safely, down to the best application and how to hook them up.

Comparison To OEM
So here’s the ultimate question… The truck already comes with frame mounted tow points, so why even upgrade? The answers are simple.
- Factory points are not meant for the heavy loading seen during recovery (may bend or break)
- Upgrade options improve safety and success rate
- Aftermarket points are specifically tested and rated for added stress
- Can provide better angles and load distribution
- Confidence in your truck is key, and these help to fortify how you feel
- Compatible with aftermarket bumpers and skids
Installation
Install is just about as easy as it gets. Simply remove the factory points, and bolt in your new set with the provided hardware.

This took me less than 10 minutes, and I was taking some photos in the meantime. Too easy!
Review
I normally like to keep things neutral for color schemes. But the Bronze Oxide color looks really good with red accents. I originally went in this direction after adding some Arroyo Tamarock RTs, which feature a dual color sidewall, one of which has red lettering. It also helps that the OR trim comes with red Bilstein shocks.
This is a pretty simple mod, so I won’t go on and on here. I still need to do more strength testing (pending me or someone getting stuck) but the features speak for themselves and so do the other reviews I’ve seen online. The material and hardware choices certainly paint a good picture for strength and longevity.
All said and done, I’m pretty stoked on these. They have just the right amount of color and complement my truck very well. I have no doubts as to their performance. If you’re looking for a solid set of recovery points to upgrade with, I don’t think you can go wrong with SXTH.
Given their position and mounting, they should be compatible with all aftermarket bumpers.
Final Thoughts
SXTH Element might be newer to the truck space, but certainly not to the aftermarket. They have a great reputation and a solid product lineup. I also have their rear recovery points, which I’ll cover in a separate post.
