Full Coverage & Precision Fit For The Best Protection

We all love a good Tacoma build… But as rad as coilovers, armor, and campers are, there are a lot cheaper mods that you use on the daily and that provide practical solutions.

Enter floor liners. I’d bet just about everyone has bought a set for their vehicle at some point. And the right set makes a big difference, especially in bad weather or that spilled coffee whose lid wasn’t as secure as you thought.

For me, I want maximum coverage. I want the liner to be elevated enough to hold liquids without overflowing and protect high wear spots on the carpet. That’s where Husky Liners come in. I’ve had them in my last two trucks, and they’ve done a great job. This time, I went with X-Act Contour line, as they are the most robust and offer the best coverage.

I installed a set in my 4th Gen. Let’s take a closer look.

Key Features & Design

Husky Liners For Tacoma With OEM Hook Compatibility

  • laser measured for perfect fitment (edge to edge coverage)
  • uses proprietary ProCore materials (soft feel, flexible, easy to clean)
  • simple install and removal (literally seconds)
  • built to last a lifetime (no curling or warping)
  • made in the USA!
  • front liners lock into OEM positions
  • pointed nibs on the bottom help to prevent shifting
  • works with effectively all Tacoma trims, powertrain, and cab options

Compared To OEM

Husky Liners Vs. OEM Toyota Floor Mats (Front)

Most Toyota trucks come with factory floor mats (seen on left). Some (like mine) come with the upgraded all weather floor mats (middle).

The benefits of the different tiers are easy to see. Let’s look at the front first. The fabric mats provide decent coverage, but have little spill protection. The all weather are a little better, but still leave some room for improvement. The Husky Liners provide the best protection, and even hang over the door sill.

Husky Liners Vs. OEM Toyota Floor Mats (Rear)

Once again, as we look at the back, the differences are pretty clear.

The bottom has the fabric set, the middle the all weathers, and the top is the Husky set. The coverage difference is the biggest in the rear, especially considering the portion that goes over the hump in the back seat.

Installation & Fit

Husky Liners Rear Floor Protection

Floor mats and liners are probably the easiest modification to install. It legit takes no time at all.

The fit is perfect, as expected. No trimming or special fitment required. They just drop right in.

Real World Use & Performance

4th Gen Tacoma Floor Liners

I’ve had these liners now for several months, with many miles on and off-road.

As far as comfort goes, they don’t feel overly stiff or rigid under your feet. The material is relatively soft and pliable. Grip is good, even in wet conditions. They can be a little slippery, but you won’t get away from that when it gets really wet. But still, not bad at all. I haven’t had any leaks or issues with dirt or water creeping past them. They’re super easy to clean with some basic cleaner, water, and I like to use a soft brush. Even when they’re new, they aren’t off gassing a bunch of weird smells.

Pros & Cons

Husky Liners For 4G Tacoma

Pros

  • soft, premium rubber feel vs. harder and less flexible plastic-like mats
  • excellent fit and coverage
  • no sliding or shifting
  • simple to remove and clean
  • great protection for daily drivers and outdoorsmen

Cons

  • more expensive compared to cheaper models
  • can collect debris in crevices if not cleaned appropriately
  • only available in black

Final Thoughts

Husky Liners For Hybrid Tacoma

If you’re in the market for new mats/liners, I highly recommend you go the premium route for a solid set. The added cost is relatively small at these price points, and the benefits are more than worth it. Especially to protect these newer generation trucks, which have gotten a lot more expensive.

This mod applies to all use case scenarios. Whether you only use your truck as a daily driver, or you frequently find yourself off pavement, these liners have you covered.
